Glass & Surface Etching

START AN ETCHING PROJECT

Abrasive Surface Etching

A refined, professional etching process for glass, crystal, and select surfaces — designed for clarity, longevity, and a truly finished look.

Glass & Surface Etching with Depth and Permanence

When a project calls for elegance, durability, and a premium finish, surface etching is often the right choice.

At Foxwood, we use abrasive etching, also know as sandblasting, to create clean, dimensional marks in glass and other hard surfaces. Unlike laser marking, this method produces a soft, frosted finish that won’t fade, peel, or discolor over time — making it ideal for high-value items and professional recognition.

Etching vs. Laser Engraving

Our studio offers two complementary methods for customization — each suited to different effects and materials:

Laser Engraving:
Using a precise beam of light, laser engraving vaporizes the top layer of material to create smooth, frosted markings. It’s best suited for fine detail work, text, or intricate graphics where clean precision is key.

What Makes Surface Etching Different

Surface etching physically removes the material rather than marking it with heat. Our process allows us to design and create permanent, detailed impressions on nearly any substrate, including glass, granite, marble, and stone.

The result:

  • Greater depth and clarity
  • A refined, tactile finish
  • Excellent durability for long-term display
  • Consistent results on premium glassware

This process is often chosen when presentation and longevity matter just as much as personalization

Ideal Uses for Glass & Surface Etching

  • Engraved glassware & barware
  • Bottles & decanters
  • Awards & recognition pieces
  • Corporate milestones & retirements
  • Memorials & commemorative items
  • Decorative glass elements

If a piece needs to feel finished rather than simply marked, etching is usually the best solution.

From elegant liquor and perfume bottles to Glassybaby vessels, awards, and keepsakes, our deep etching brings out the natural beauty and texture of every material. Whether you provide your own item or choose from our selection, we ensure each project receives the same meticulous attention to detail.

Customization Options

Why Choose Foxwood for Glass Etching

  • Professional-grade etching — not laser-only marking
  • Experience with high-value glassware
  • Attention to design balance and spacing
  • Clear guidance on whether etching or engraving is best
  • Trusted by corporate and institutional clients

We’ll always recommend the process that produces the strongest result — even if that means steering you away from etching when another method is better.

File & Artwork Guidelines

  • Vector files are preferred for logos and detailed designs
  • Text, crests, and line art work especially well
  • We’ll advise on size, placement, and contrast

Not sure what will translate best to glass? That’s part of our role.

Turnaround & Quantities

  • Available for single pieces and bulk orders
  • Timelines depend on complexity and quantity
  • Rush projects may be possible with advance notice

Because glass is unforgiving, thoughtful planning ensures the best finish.
